"I have always loved working with Japanese and Chinese prints and fabrics. When my son lived in Japan I visited him and was able to experience the quiet beauty of the ancient Japanese gardens. In this quilt I was able to play with fans and create the sense of a moving stream, like the beautiful rock gardens that seem as though they're moving."

This is an Asian design made in a stack and wack method that has become popular in recent years. I started with an Asian cotton, stacked up layers of the same print, and cut several layers at once. It is machine pieced with a combination of hand quilting and machine stippled quilting. The dark border has Sashiko quilting in a fan design. The fabrics are all cotton. |
