| "After receiving some Amish blocks from friends, I made this quilt using patterns from a book by Elizabeth Root. The solid colors are Amish cottons on a dark blue cotton background. Instead of the usual one-piece design, I used many designs in small blocks. The designs are all flowers or plants that are named on the quilt. Newer Hawaiian quilts are made in this style."

The blocks are hand appliqued and then assembled into the quilt top on the machine. It is hand quilted. The backing is a flowered cotton. |
