"After receiving some Amish blocks from friends, I made this quilt using patterns from a book by Elizabeth Root. The solid colors are Amish cottons on a dark blue cotton background. Instead of the usual one-piece design, I used many designs in small blocks. The designs are all flowers or plants that are named on the quilt. Newer Hawaiian quilts are made in this style."
